i looked at the dealer today and it has a new style air filter.it looks like it is a better setup than the 2002 model.i called kawasaki when i got home to see if it can be retrofitted, his response we havent tried it. he says check internet forums to see if any one has done it.i just love talking to some ding dong on the phone about my 7000$ investment.also the plastic seems to fit alot better on deep red 650s.anyone else have an idea if filter setup could be retrofitted.

I cannot imagine that they would have made sweeping changes to the bikes so that they are not interchangeable.

If it flows different, is the 2003 jetted differently?

OK, so I went down to the dealership and checked out the new air filter set-up on the '03 650. I like it, but now I am wondering why? What was wrong with the '02 filter design? Is this something I should be concerned about? Does the new design flow better? Is the jetting different for this new filter design? Can it be retrofitted to my '02, and if it can is it worth it?
I know that with all of the P650 guys around here, surely someone has this all figured out.
Thanks for your replys.

These parts are different
Lid (cheap)
Filter housing ($$$) The 03 one is almost identical to the 02 one.
Filter (cheapish)
Bracket that holds filter down (probly cheapish)
Velocity Stacks (cheap?)
Screws (cheap)

It is my suspicion that the 02 filter housing could be made to work relatively easy. I haven't seen the 03 in real life yet, so that may be a stupid statement. It looks nearly identical in the www.buykawasaki parts diagram.

The snorkle is the same.
