An All new Lakota Sport?
#1
Hi all. I was just reading my new issue of ATV Action and they said there would be a late release 2003 Lakota Sport. I am kinda reading between the lines here and thinking, if they aren't making any really signifigant changes, then why the delay? They also hinted about another suprise but I am convinced they are idiots and just kinda disregarded it. After all, the last 6-7 years have had rumors of a new 400 c.c. sport quad and after all the hype they were so pathetic as to change the color of another manufacturers quad. The actual article said "We wont be seeing anymore alliance machines, but a 2003 Lakota Sport 300 is definately in the cards, and there may be one more suprise!" What do you all think?

i think that there will be a new quad for kawasaki. it is probly gonna sport thier 650 v-twin from the prarie. it has to be. in order for kawasaki to stay in the sport market with thier own creation, they would have to put out thier beastly 650 in a sport chassis. in dirt wheels they had an article testing their new quad. so thats it for ya!

What's up:
I was wondering what happened to the Lakota Sport. It was only around for 2 years. Maybe Kawasaki has something up their sleeve for the Lakota.
I think it would be cool if Kawi put the KLX 300 dirt bike engine in the Lakota frame. It would lighten the load, and it would be liquid cooled. The only bad thing is it wouldn't have reverse, but it would have six gears, unless they could some how make six gear a reverse. What do you guys think?
I also agree with Dangerousrider400, Kawasaki needs their own big bore sport quad. Don't get me wrong the 400 is a nice addition to their lineup, but it's still got suzuki written all over it, plus they need something to go up against the DS650, Raptor, and Polaris's new Preadtor 500, what better than the 650 v-twin. Hey who knows maybe something all new is coming, whatever it is I hope it's going to be something good, and something thats got "GREEN BLOOD" running through the veins!!

Is it just me? Why does everyone keep calling the lakota sport a 300? I recently purchased my wifes lakota sport and its a 350. Hell I even had to argue with the service department at my local dealer before I could get them to admit that it was in fact a 350.

Dude,
You need to stop sniffing glue!! The Lakota Sport is a 290cc SOHC four stroke. If you purchase your Lakota brand new from the dealer (with no modifications) you have a 290cc engine......not 350cc.

I wish mine came stock with a 350... i might not have needed to buy a Raptor.

Not stock it isn't. Its badly under geared. Its first gear reminds me of Granny gear in my old scout. Even second gear is lower than 1st gear in my kfx400. I will go up one sprocket size and do the normal engine mods then we will see what she can do.
