Have any of you adjusted the valves on your 650? The dealer I guess checked them on the first service but they have not been checked since. The manual says to check them once a year.

I have read about it in the service manual but sometimes the manual makes things seem harder than they really are.

I will adjust them soon. I have almost 100 hrs. on it(800Mi)
The hardest part will be to get AT the top of the cyl. heads. A lot of plastic has to come off! Shouldn't be very involved ONCE you get at the engine!

E454:

I did mine back in June at 900 miles and 74 hrs. All the valves were within spec. It's one hell of a job, as all the plastic has to come off. You mentioned that you think your dealer checked them. If you got a big, fat labor bill, then maybe they did. Otherwise, I would bet they didn't do anything. If you plan on doing the job, just be patient and remember how all the plastic comes off and in what order. You're going to end up with a lot of pieces and many screws.

I just did my wife's Vinson and that was a whole lot easier. Those valves were also within spec at 300 miles and 26 hrs.

Good luck!

I am not sure that I am ready to adjust or check mine. They were checked last fall at the 10hr check by dealer (if they really did it). I am not having problems and only have 600+ mile on my quad. I am sure sometime this fall I will check them.

I had mine done at the dealer, when my KEBC motor burned up.
For all the aggrevation it sounds like to pull all the plastic, they charged me 72.00. That how much they charge for a valve adjustment 72 bucks. That seems like a good deal to me.

Mine were out of adjustment, I had them done at 1200 miles, about 140 hours. Runs great!!
