I live in AL, and there's lots of mud. I own a 2x4 prairie 300 ('99). I was wondering what I can do for traction in mud, I already have tires, (Wooly Boogers(?)) I was wondering what the next level of traction would be. I dont wanna buy a new quad, its a rec thing and I dont have the money to get a better quad. My advice to anyone getting a quad---make it a KAWI or GTF outta here!!!!!!!!

i have a '99 prairie 300 2x4, also, and it dont seem like i need any more traction than what i have w/ the stock tires, but if you need more traction, w/o buying new quad or new tires, go w/ them mud paddles, that u stick on the hubs or rims or something, they are supposed to give you good traction in mud.

You may want to get some 12 inch rear wheels and some really agressive mud tires. There is more selection in 12 inchers. You may want to go wider in the rear for increased floatation such as a 26X12X12 The 26 inch size will get you more bite if you think it can turn them fast enought to clean them. You may want to look into Vampires, Gators, Outlaws, of your choice. You may find something on ebay as well

For better traction try this..... Find the largest man or woman you can find in your county. Have them ride double with you and you will notice those tires hook up much better. Just a thought.

Is it that you don't way enough (How much do you way?) or is it that the tires aren't gripping well enough to your likings? My freind has the woolie boogers on his 2x4 Recon 250 and goes every where (almost) that the 4x4 recon that another guy has he can really work that machine!!! He does way about 200-230 though that is why I ask if it is a weight related issue.

Perhaps lowering the PSI in your tires may help. Or sitting way back on the seat.

JEO, get a belt spring kit from EPI and put big fat tires on like 27" mudrunners. That will give you lots more traction in mud. Try to keep from buying the heaviest tires. Mudbugs lighter than mudrunners and 589s.

Remember that a 2x4 will have less trouble turning 2 big tires in the mud than a 4x4 will turning 4 tires.
