trx450, I adjusted mine last week (1100 miles), and I was glad to have taken surveyor's advice. I only removed the middle plastic and the airbox. The only hard part about it was trying to get the dang feeler gage into the cramped tight spot to check clearance. Luckily I had one of those cool go-nogo feeler gages that I felt sped the job up for me.

The tough ones are the exhaust on the front cyl. I was able to check them without removing the inner fender plastic. If I had to adjust one of them, I would have had to do like surveyor said with the inner fender plastic.

However, I honestly do not believe my 650 really needed a valve adjustment. 7 out of 8 valves were right on the money, and one exhaust valve was slightly loose and could have been left a while. I am only telling you this just in case you have any reason to put it off. Although it is good to be sure they are right, I think the 650's valves could go quite a bit further without adjusting.

nyroc, et al--- Will I need to re-jet if I were to leave the intake all stock? I think that I'll only do the muffler mod.at this point, and the black spring. I operate at 1K--2.3K ft. altitude.

A very easy way to adjust valves on these compact and hard to get at engines is to use a dial indicator instead of a feeler gauge. It will be much more accurate and is easy to do because the indicator just sits on top of the rocker adjustment screw tip, move the rocker up and down and read the gap.
Too easy....

Highlifter has them as well.
Are you still going to H/M? I am going to make a week of it. Get this. I have to take off 8 days between now and October 15 or I loose that much accumulated vacation. That's the thanks for being a company man. (sorry had nothing to do with 4 wheelin, just had to vent).

kissofdeath--- My same thought, exactly! I'll let you all know how it goes. The sound is great! Not too loud, it has a mellow little "bark" up on the pipe, though. The "BLACK SPRING" goes in Fri or Sat.
jpier1-- YES I am going to be a H/M on Oct 5th, Bear Wallow trailhead. Plan to be on trail by 10--10:30am. Riding Buffalo Mtn/Rev. Compton trail on Sunday. Leave Mon. am for home. PM me if you want to exchange ph#'s and info on lodging.

trx 450 does your c-series wheels spot up after mud riding? Mine does, I can get the staining off but requires a lot of work. Im looking into clear coating them what ideas do you "or anyone else" have.

Yeah they spot up. NO--I don't worry about it! That first mud hole covers a "multitude of sins" !!! Clear coat sounds like the way to go.

monte where do I get this clear powder coat or do I have to get an auto paint shop to do it? One wheel down 3 to go! BOOOO!! LOL

Also did you notice any gains with the unifilter and Diamond G snorkle? Whats the difference in the Diamond G and stock? What did you notice about the Black EPI spring? And last, did the new front springs give you more ground clearance?

Thanks.
