Well here it is sept 19 and on my way home from work i cross over a high piece of ground and can see about 50 miles. The mountains and foothill cutblocks are white with snow. Big dicision here( sleds or a bad a$$ kawi). I wanted to play in them their hills this weekend and in snow up to 1 foot the 650 is the way to go. Just think of the power slides and slippery hill climbs. ok ! ok! im getting carried away with the excitement of the new found fun. I must remember old people are slow to heal, yes real slow to heal. Any way the wife drives a honda and will veto the quads in favor of sleds. dolt! O well probably a U.N weapons inspector would catch me and raise hell anyway. Probably charge me with a weapon of mass destruction of old people.

My 650 was a piece of crap in the snow before I put on my 589s. Now it wails through the snow like crazy. The big footprint of the 26" Titans sure does the trick. The trick is to ride nice and slow in the deep stuff. These tires just pack it down and roll over it without sinking. As long as you don't grab a thumbful of throttle, life is good!! If you tape it, you sink like a rock and great sadness ensues!

We didnt get a lot of snow here last winter, and when we were on patrol it was the 650 that broke trail. Broke trail in over a foot of snow with mudbugs. No problems, climbed some north facing slopes with a foot of old snow no problem again . Big problem was no one could follow me. Nothing sadder then a flotella of hondas on the valley floor, then backtracking 3 miles to get out of the valley.
It was truley a good day for the kawi. Not so great for big red. All in all everyone had a great day and the honda owners got a good ribbing in rememberence of my artic cat 300 in snow.

I guess you dont have much need for sleds down south. It is ( a rumer that its a federal law that in canada you have to own a sled or dog team). Last winter i spent all of my dope money on quads and ended up eating the dog team. It was +6 c here today about 44 deg f i believe. Im glad to get rid of the heat it went into the 90 f here during summer. anything over 60 f is to hot for me ,allthough im not looking forward to -40 f.

Roscoe69 I told Mastrblaster of your unique area to ride truly majestic. I'll bet wifey can't wait to turn on the sled and maybe pull the Kawi through the snow oops vice a versa per say. Mastrblaster I hope to run down your way next year with any luck. Maybe Roscoe69 and better half will join me for a long weekend that would be great HHHMMMMM! I should have the green machine tricked out by then. Have fun in the snow talk to you later.

Hey Alltoys and
scootdog

Thought of you yesterday alltoys, had visions of you ripping and snorting in snow. aah! what a majestic sight seeing the snow being roosted. Then i was stirred by the fact you were probably hurling large rock, sticks and small animals in the process. I can see it all now , what a great time had by all except those that were following you. ha ha.

how do you like the garmin gps 400, i have the 38 and im thinking of getting the computer kit for it. its good to show people where we have been. I think other people that are on the ride enjoy the trip more if thay can understand better where they were or where they are going.
still +6 c here this morning

Alltoys, you would be more than welcome to come on over for a while. My house is small, but you could always park your fifth wheel in the backyard!! Roscoe, if Alltoys comes over you should tag along. I could take you guys on a few trails that will whiten yourhair!! We got quite a bit of snow here last year. The Hondas with the 589s on them were leaving me in the dust-----till I put on my 589s. In soft powdery stuff, the stockers were fine, but the wet sticky stuff left me stuck to the skidplate. The 589s and a few riding tricks made the Kawi shine.

Alltoys told me about your riding area. I'd like to check that out. Maybe we can all hook up and go for a ride someday.

Any time you plan on coming over let me know in advance to make sure im going to be home.

Most times we dont travel far.Sometimes calgary. We have a spare bedroom , double bed c/w computer. No problem , i dont think we are mental. Refer to bottom of page. Beautiful country, great quading. Its not one of my better get rich quick schemes but i like the woods.if we went to BC would you scare the crap out of us on some mountain ledge. Wife has low tolerence of that and would veto such action.
Hope you can get over sometime. you are more then welcome. Big tires do make a difference, when i first got my 650 my neighbours down the road had a muskeg bog waiting for me.Now there was a sight to see and the kawi bogged down real fast, lack of experiance and dunflops were a real embarrasement. Now with mudbugs i could probably idle through and if all else failed pin it.
