My recommendation is that you use a bungie cord to rig your throttle wide open and put your hands in your pockets. This has been very effective for me in cold weather.

mudd hog,

-45?C = about 0?F and in Nova Scotia, Canada our nights can drop down to these temps, during late December and January. I have been out in -45?C weather but I do amit that that is extreame, nor for us would drop between -20?C to -40?C. One time on my YFM 80 we stopped at a warming shelter about 2 in the morning and we were there for about 40 minutes, and we went out side and the batteries were frozen so we had to pull them out of the bikes and take them in to thaw them out. When you travel in these conditions you have to be prepared. Put it this way.... when I go bikeing at night I can not bring a can of pop because it will explode.

Do you think we're morons???

Simple math will tell you that -45C = -49F. Use the formula (C*1.8)+32=F.

Halifax, Nova Scotia's lowest temperature in recorded history was only -21.1C. Hell Nova Scotia has the warmest climate of all Canadian provinces!!!

Act stupid all you want but don't flame me because I called you out on your stupid comments.

EXT, what is the coldest and hottest you've ever seen it get in Nova Scotia? I'm really just curious about this. From what I've been told and read the climate there is actually a lot nicer than I would have thought.

It typically can get warm here through most of the summer. We had some days in the high 80's up to low 90's .It usually runs around 70-75 in the summer.
We had had a few mild winters the last few years { good for buggyin but sucked for sleddin } it can get down to - 30 +- and add windchill on top of that and it is cold but it is rare that it gets that cold.Winter weather for the most part is around 15-20 deg .
I hate metric and dont do well with it LOL so no metric conversion needed.
I sled alot in the winter in New Brunswick and in the northern end it gets really cold there.Much milder here usually.Same type weather for the most part as Maine I guess.

Sounds like you guys have great summers but I couldn't handle that extreme cold. I hate our climate here, summers see 100-110 on a regular basis and winters regularly have sub zero days too. IIRC it got up to around 113 this summer and down to -11 a couple of winters ago, either way I just stay inside LOL.

Although last winter was a disappointment in the snow level alot of us are very adaptable here.Snowmobiles in the winter and buggies when there isn't much snow around but eveything is frozen.
Hand and thumb warmers are on ALL of the buggies and sleds.
They make life alot more fun in the winter.
All you have to do is wear your sleddin clothes and away you go LOL.

C and F meet at -40
There are a bunch of cruise units out for street bikes. I would look there I do not think this is a great idea though. Look for snow mobile hand warmers.
I am from the south it never gets very cold so when I went to work in N.D. I had the cruise set just tooling along all was well until I hit a patch of ice!!! This is one coon a@@ that learned real quick cruise and winter are not a good mix.

I had thumb and hand grip warmers on my last 4x4. They worked pretty good.
