Do I have to remove front pulley to put black spring in
#1
I removed cover today. Belt is very loose. do i need a new belt? or can this be adjusted. I also broke a puller trying to remove frt pulley and am not sure it has to be removed for belt replacement or black spring install

You have to remove the driven to get to the spring. you do not have to touch the drive pulley. Don't take it off.
Here are some tech tips, including how to do it and how to make a pulley compressor (easy as doin dishes).
Look for belt adjustment, and driven spring compressor, belt change in 10 minutes.

Nyroc and Scoot, You guys are quick. I posted the message and went and took a nap for two hours, came back and I have my answer. Thanks for the service. I've been working on my 650 all morning. I checked the diff lock adjustment. It may have been to tight. I loosened it up a bit. I also tried too lube the steering shaft. It was a lesson in futility. there is a squeeky type noise when i turn and thought i could lube the shaft to get rid of it. The upper bearing is hard to get to and it has like a rubber seal to keep dirt out and grease in. i don't think i was able to get much lube in.But anyways, I'm going to try and buy a belt at one those sites that advertise in the back of dirtwheels to see if they really do sell oem parts at wholesale prices. I'll keep you posted on progress
