The Mojave is heavy but IMO it handles better and is a good bit faster than the 250x that is why Honda upped it to 300 but it still was not as fast. Some like the honda feel but to me it was always to tall felling where as the KAW seams to sit you in the quad rather than on. The thing here is though the better rider will win between the 2 so practice.

First of all, the 250x will outhandle the mojave any day of the week. The 250x is probably a little slower than the mojave. The honda is not a 300 now, it is only a 282. If I were to buy a new machine out of the mojave or 300ex, I would buy the mojave. IT is probably faster and has liquid cooling, cheaper, dual overhead cams, etc. If someone were to give me my choice of either quad for free, I would choose the 300ex because it it bullet proof. The kawi is also very reliable, but not quite up to the standards of the honda. I just like handeling of the 300ex. It is a very smooth operating atv. These are just my opinions.

A friend of mine has an 87 250x, and when my Mojave was new and stock we were always neck and neck (his was stock then too). Who ever got the holeshot won drag racing. Now we have all the same mods, except he got better gearing, new cdi, and a hotter cam and we are still neck and neck until my rev limiter kicks in.
I like my quad better because I am used to it.
As for the reliability part his 87 has never been rebuilt and it starts and runs perfect-no smoke at all that has to say something. I don't know about mine-I'll wait 15 years and see I guess.

handeling is sort of personal that is why I put IMO to me the 250x always felt tipy and never settled. Most mags disagree w/ me but again it is what you like not me or a mag that counts.

The mojave has a rev limiter. If you didn't know that , it means you are not reving high enough to reach it. Leave it connected. You will only float valves and possibly cause engine damage from over-revving.

I think that the 250x would win because its a 2 stroke and its faster

i had a 89 250x for a short period and it was a solid quad. wasnt terribly fast though. it was about on par with my cousin's zuki quadsport 230. might have been a litte quicker, and it had better suspension. i would imagine the mojave would be able to beat it out.
