Agrhhhh! Couldn't Break the bead on the Dunlops
#1
I tried to break the bead on the stock Dunlops last night to fix a hole that my friend put in the tire while riding this passed weekend. What a nightmare! I was using a friends pneumatic tire changer, and after over an hour of trying, could not pop the bead. I was able to get one side off, but the other wouldn't break free. I wound up giving up on the patch idea, and plugged the hole.
My question is, how do do I get these p.o.s. tires off of the rim?
I'm planning to replace these ASAP with Dirt Devils or 589's, but I still will need to remove the old "Dunflops". Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Greg

Hand grenade or fire works well.LOL Seriously, you mite want to take it to a tire specialty place, like a farm supply store, or a place that works on lawn tractors, they can break the bead.
What worthless tires................

The $5-$10/tire that a tire specially shop charges is well worth it as trx450 mentioned. Many Motorcycle/ATV shops will do it too.
I have gotten them off with a 2x6 board (driving up on tire with 2psi to peel the bead off the rim). But it is still a pain.

c5greg, I can break any atv tire bead EXCEPT donflops. I don't even have a real beadbreaker, just one I made. The bigger tire stores (Dunn does) have good enough breakers to do the job, but even they have probs doing it.
I know I could make an improved bead breaker, one that pushes a sharper, curved shoe in between the bean and rim, then pushes the bead down. But, I don't need to. I won't ever see those sucky things agan.
Another thing, mounting and tire is so easy, if you have the "atv" tire irons, you can do a tire with one hand tied behind your back. I'm serious, I did it with a phone in one hand.
