The prairie has alot of inner frame splash protection compared to most. I got about 12lbs from that. The stock bupmer weighs almost 25lbs. I put on a 4lb aluminumn one. racks are gone. That was 20lbs. about 10lbs off of the engine braking outfit. lost 10lbs on the exhaust.mine weighed 657lbs stock with the aftermarket tires and rims. The all tracs weigh only 2lbs each more than the stock tires. 4wd is still intact. I could lose another 40lbs off of the drive but thats gotta stay in or why did i buy a 4x4 right?

just to prove my weight is accurate and i am not full of bull in the last issue of ATV Action they shave 110lbs off of a p650 with the 4wd unit out and they were still running the stock bumper and 2 peices of the rad side panel. THis is just to prove that the weight i lost is accurate and im telling the truth.

I was at an ATV Jamboree last Sunday where there were several Grizzleys, P650, and a 700 Sp in attendance. The 700 had 28 inch tall tires on it with billet aluminum wheels and weighed in at 790 pounds. In dragracing competition on dry ground the Grizzleys and the Prairie were quicker than the 700 but in the mud pit dragrace through a 12 inch deep soupy mud pit the 700 evened things up a bit by taking second place with a 4.067 et to the grizz's 4.063 and they were all running aftermarket tires. Interesting enough was the fact the both piped Grizzleys were quicker than the piped Prairie on the dragstrip. I have no idea what else they all had done to them but all of them were piped including the 700 which belongs to a local dealers son. The Prairie was the best sounding of the whole bunch. Both Grizz's entered the wheely contest. And did really well also. The 700 did run his stock tires for the dragracing as did the grizzley's they all changed to really agressive mud tires for the pit.

Are you saying that the 650 was running overized mud tires in a drag race??? I hope the guy knew better than to even try that.

No they all changed to their stock tires for dragracing. he was beating stock 400EX's with it so it isn't slow but whatever those grizzley's had done made them rock. They were both bad machines and they would blast out of the hole like they were shot out of it. The Prairie would wheely if he left really hard. He lost one race because of standing it up.

Dang, I'd like to have watched that. I've dragged a little and watched a lot, and to see a Grizzly come out of the hole like that would be cool, usually its the P650 that looks like it was shot out of a cannon but alas in longer drags the Prairie tends to be on the trailing end.

I may sell my Z and buy one of those new 700's when they come out and I'm hoping they make an aftermarket cdi for it. I have heard that the KFX700 will run 80 with the factories tweaked box on them but will be limited to 72 or so. This track I was at call's their dragracing a 100 yard dash during the summer when they are running the points series and in the fall they switch to double elimination dragracing but I don't think it is quite 100yds. I don't think the Wife's Ozark is really capable of a 5.7 100 yard run. Those Grizzley's could have had engine work but they claimed they didn't. They looked really cool leaving the line. A lot like a GM A-Body car kind of twisted up and carrying the front wheels out of the hole and the back end just squats down like a car also with the IRS.The quickest Grizz has outran several piped 400EXs and doesn't look like he is straining to do it. It's fun watching the 4x4s outrun the sport crowd.

Did one of the Grizzly's race against a Z? I think it would a close race.

Probably running 720 kit with some work.

most of the Grizz around here do.

They work good, it's fun beating them.
