Mobil MX4T

I know that many of you are using MX4T in the P650 engine, but what do you think about putting it in the front diff? Will it be too stiff/light (steering effort)? The reason I am asking is that I just purchase some MX4T for my first oil change, and the store didn't have any V-Twin synth 20W-50. Please advise!

Personally I have 2000 miles on my 650, It came with Kaw 10-30 from factory, my first change I used Yamalube 20w-40, third I tried the Mobil v-twin 20-50, then I used Kendall GT-1 oil, I now have Castrol 10w-30..... Well I could not tell one bit of difference in any of them, the fan ran about the same with all of them, and it never got real hot with any of them, the most expensive was the mobil at autozone $7.99 the cheapest was the Kendall GT-1 $1.49 per quart it looks diff than regular oil, has a green color to it even though it is 4 cycle oil, so I will use the Kendall from now on since it did as good as any of the other's and is the cheapest also, engine builder's swear by Kendall oil for some reason..........

I wasn't planning on doing the change to synthetic until 10 hours. Do you think that is too soon? Is there also a problem with putting synthetic in the front diff to early (or just the engine)? What about MX4T in the front diff?

It is too thin at the temps the diff runs at.
It is perfect for the engine, but your unlocked diff stiffness will be reduced if you use it in the front diff. Synth does not get thick when cold or thin when hot as much as dino oil does. That's why the engine loves it so much. Those viscosity specs are determined at different temperatures than the diff runs at.
IMO, 20w50 (V-twin) is better for the front diff than MX4T. I think V-twin is still a little thinner than some other stuff that stakk mentioned. I would almost recommend a synthetic a little thicker than 20w50. I don't like dino oil in there, since I can feel the steering get harder in cold weather and less in hot.

I just bought a case (12 quart's) at Autozone for $19.78, they reformulated the GT-1 and took the green dye out of it for some reason, engine builder's around here swear buy it, someone on the forum switched from the thicker oil and ran 5w-30 said it made the 650 Pra. run cooler with the thinner oil in it, I'm trying it my next change, try Autozone or maybe Pep Boy's for the Kendall......
