Synthetic vs Standard Oil
bear in mind that this is just me...
about 15 hrs I put in 15-50 red cap mobil 1, I had it & run it in my street bikes, If my friend can get 80,000 miles off it before he changes the clutch on his v 4 yammy, (clutch discs still in the lower end of spec) & 110 K miles on the bike, I figure it is ok, I've been running it in the quad since 10 hrs, & my v 4 bike since 3k miles, my v twin bike since 7K miles..good stuff..
note I don't run the v twin oil, the last time I changed I put in the automotive 15-50 it met all the specs I needed, I don't know if they changed the additive package or not now, but the main diffrence was wet clutch performance, since the prarie has no wet clutch, it may be fine..
I have 60 hrs on the quad, & no problems with leaks, seals, etc..
now of course, some folks put delo 400, or rotella in street bikes & change it a little more often..
by the screen name, would the ural be a hack, or single..
all about cost to some, 4 bux a qt for synth, or 1 buck for dino..
I run the synth in my quad, bikes, truck..but my preference..

SURVEYOR>> Thanks for the advise. I think I'll stick with Torco 20-50 this go-around.
URALS= Mountains I visited in Siberia 1990-93. Beautiful!!! And bound to tear up a quad - even a Prarie 650. Makes the Rockies look TAME ! Thanks again.

I run the mobile V-Twin oil- One thing you have to consider on a V is the rear cylinder runs hotter due to the configuration so what ever oil you choose please keep this in Mind. All the oils mentioned above are great however just remember becuase it is synthetic does not extend the change interval on a quad for the sole reason of contaminates..

Synthetic vs Standard Oil
I switched to synthetic at the first oil change. There are a lot of myths about synthetic oil and one of them is that it causes seals to leak. I have never found this to be true. My opinion is that the quicker you switch to synthetic oil the better. I use Castrol Actevo 10w40 synthetic.

Synthetic vs Standard Oil
I run Amsoil 20W50 V-twin full synthetic and have had no problems. I agree that running a V-twin oil in a V-twin is essential due to the rear cylinder running hotter. The only reason I went to a synthetic is because it is a way better oil!!! When you spend $10,000 on a toy, you want it to be around for a while.
