In order to put the shim back in you're going to be down to the spring anyway, so it's going to make no difference. The belt being tight makes no difference one way or the other. Check out the "Nyroc" site for clutch disassembly instructions.

If you put the spacer back in it will loosen up. I wouldnt do that at all. You will have to take the driven pulley apart again to install your black spring. Installing the black spring will have no effect on the belt tightness so be sure and put the spacer back that came out.

The stiffer spring does not affect the belt deflection when you are stopped. It increases tension and side pressure while you are moving. Check the belt deflection while you have the cover off. Try to keep your deflection closer to the tight side (.87 inches) of the spec.

If the deflection is still OK, just put the black spring in and don't take the pulleys apart.

Tightness wasnt a good word to use. I should have said belt deflection instead. I was reading your post and had that word in my head at the time.

Its a piece of cake, once you done it. I can do the spring in 35 min. in my home garage. You will need a way to compress the spring. Either a compressor(like Master Nyroc has on his site) or a press. I like the press, myself. Good luck! PS-- I bought all(4) shims, so I KNOW I have the right one in stock when I do the tear-down. The are @ $5.00 ea.
