650 Snowplow
#1
I need to put a snow plow on my 650. There are a few different manufacturers out there, including Kawasaki, Moose, Cycle Country, etc. What type of experiences have you all had with putting a plow on a 650. Which plow works best? Anyone try the v-plow that I think Cycle Country sells? Any advise would be appreciated, it is going to be snowing here soon.

Chieftam, I built my own plow, so I can't give you any firsthand advice on how good any of the ones you listed are. I read in one of the ATV rags that the Moose plow worked very well. If you can, get one of the mounts that mount midframe, right by your footpegs. They seem to be better than the ones that mount to your ball (from what my buddies tell me). Go with a big plow. Your 650 can easily push a 60 inch plow. Good luck.

I have been wondering the same things, and have narrowed it down to Cycle Country and Warn. I have heard that the warn plow can be removed by pulling one pin. I don't know for sure about either one however, still trying to decide.

I have a 60 " moose plow that I originally used on my kvf400. When i just bought my v twin It cost the dealer $49 for the mounting plate on the bottom. I also have a handlebar mounted 2000 lb warn winch. the only problem Ive encountered is that I now have to work out in the gym to compensate for the excercise that I'm not getting from pulling the lever on the 400. I haven't used it in any big snow yet, but when I had to move some loose crushed stone around to build an addition on my shed for my vtwin, it worked great and I'm looking forward to plowing instead of dreading it. I have heard of plow mounting systems that mount other than underneath the wheeler. I would say if you are starting from scratch than look into those. because I am always restraightening my attachments for the plow from hitting them on rocks

If you go to ebay and type in atv snow plow, there is a small company the sells the 60 inch Cycle Country for $369.00. It is supposed to be the complete kit with manual lift. It sounded like a good price compared to what my dealer quoted me.

Do you use something on the end of the plow to allow you to push the snow straight ahead when you want to clear it out and not windrow it? That is why I was thinking of the v-plow. I have seen these on trucks, and you can ^ them to push open a path, or V them to pick up snow that was left over to get it out of the driveway. I don't know for sure if this is how the cycle country v-plow works though.
