I just bought an 87 tecate 4. It is in about a million pieces but it is my new project. Any suggestions that I should follow along my journey to restore this quad? The engine is trashed right now and Im sure Im missing a couple small parts or bolts here and there but I thinkit is gonna be fun. Or I atleast hope it will be fun hahaha.

 

Try to find a factory service manual.

 

The guy that I bought it from still has a couple of my parts. He said that he has a repair manual but I havent got it yet. Probably after Christmas I will get the rest of the parts.

 

Whats the best place to contact about getting some custom or better A-Arms and a swing arm for my Tecate 4. I havent had much luck yet finding custom parts for it. Any info will be appreciated on what size I need and where to find them.

be extremely good to your transmission, i messed mine up a few months back and ever since have been searching for a new gearset but there discontinued and no one can seem find one

 

Have you tried Killerkx327 on this board? I know he can get all kinds of Tecate 4 parts

So what are you gonna have to do if you cant find the parts anywhere. Will the parts from another KX250 fit the KXF250 gearset? Im still trying to learn as much as possible about these quads.
