I do need a winch, just am a bit leary of the install, how long did it take most that did it themselves. The dealer claims its a major pain do do all the wiring and hookups et and takes 5-6 hrs. I didn't think it was that long? In any case, since i don't have a winch and rode alone today, i avoided most of the sticky stuff. Just went thru the occasional 1-2feet deep puddle/stream. For the most part the trail was hardpack 30mph. LOVING the new ride. Since i adjusted the idle quantity(still tweaking it to try to get it perfect) she fires right up on cold starts with no complaints. Got it thursday, have 98 miles so far. Monday afternoon going in for its first service. The dealer offers it for free, so might as well.

Lightman The point that the lugs for most tire manuafactures step up in size is 26in. I will ride 26,s Mudlites this winter then will switch to 25,s ATR,s for the summer after spring breakup . I will keep both sets mounted and ready to go . If we get rain or I find someplace that calls for mud or snow tires 10 min. and off we go. Have Fun thats the big thing.

A set of atr's and a set of mud tires on different rims would certainly be the ideal setup if you had a ride planned of all one condition. I want a good all around tire, because mostly ride hardpacked trails, but some sand, some mud, all in the same ride. Want a good all around performer that won't pop like some have said. I did get some tire sealant and had originally wanted to ride these stock dunlops till they wore out before upgrading. Hopefully that will be possible.

Where are ideal lift points to use a with a floor jack to lift the quad if I had to or wanted to change tires? What's proper lug nut torque?

Lightman,

According to the Service Manual, the torque spec on the wheel nuts is 58 ft.lb.

There is nothing that I could find in the manual regarding recomennded lift points, but I place the jack directly beneath the differentials, then place a 2x4 block between the jack and the skid plate. Very stable and works like a charm. (There is/was originally a gap of a fraction of an inch between the plate and the dif. If you haven't already done so, you will probably bang the skid plate on something and bend it up against the dif. anyway, which doesn't hurt a thing.)

Good Luck

BTW, regarding the winch question, it took me probably 7 or 8 hours (I didn't keep track I was having so much fun) in total, but I am pretty A-R when it comes to this kind of thing and tried several different options until I found out exactly how I wanted to do it. I could probably repeat an install now in a couple hours or less if I did it the exact same way. (Warn 2500 lb.)
