Kawasaki Bayou 220 Shift Lever
#1
Hello Everyone,
My wife owns a 1997 Kawasaki Bayou 220 and ever since she purchased the machine back in 1998, the shift lever was very hard to move.
She let several people ride the machine and said the very same thing, it's very hard to shift. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment somewhere for the shift linkage, to make it easier to shift?
Thanks,

my bayou does the same every now and then. it shifts extremely hard, but only when i am in a gear for a longer period of time, then it gets almost imposiblle to shift. i would also know if there is a way i can fix that.

an easy fix if its to hard for your foot to shift it is to just take a peice of rope (ex. twine) tie it to the shifter doohickey and to the handle bar. when you wanna shift pull the rope. My boss did this to his bayou and has seemed to work well.

Your clutch is out of adjustment. On the right side of the for wheeler is a small domed piece of plastic take this off, you will see a nut, loosen this nut, take a screwdriver and turn the bolt this nut was holding clockwise until it stops (DON"T TURN IT ANY FARTHER!) then do the same thing but in a counter clockwise direction, now tighten down the nut as far as you can without moving the bolt, remove the cover and your set to go. If this deosn't work your clutch is burnt up and you need to replace that.

I still haven't gotten a response to my question about noise in the front wheels of my 2000 Bayou 220. I'm pretty new to all this as you can probably tell. Right where the front wheels attach I get a noise when the weight shifts (as in when the front wheels raise up going over a rock or something and then come back down). Is this noise normal? I have only had this quad a little over a week and it's possible I didn't notice it being there at first. I'd appreciate a response of some sort.

Thanks for nothing. That's about what this board is good for. Nothing.

KingGHidora,
CHILL OUT! Just cause you don't get an answer on this board about a 220 of all machines, don't go crying around and ripping on atvconnection. I personally bought a p650 because of what a number of members had to say on the forums. I have found it very helpfull and if you have not received an answer, either you need to bump it up so that it will be seen again and have patience, or you need to refraise your post. If that doesn't work, then try some research of your own. How about the dealer? Don't be an idiot and pout just cause you can.

"Of all machines"? That's the kind of attitude that stinks up the joint. I asked the same question three times. It was a very simple problem as I soon found out myself. The fact no one bothereed to answer my question says a lot about something. If others think like you then there's a problem.
