Rust on Exhaust Pipe?
#1
When washing the mud off my bike last weekend, I noticed how rusted the front header/pipe was where it made the bend away from the cylinder head. In fact, it flaked off its first piece of rust, about 1/2" X 1/4". The pitting is pretty deep along that bend.
Has anyone else noticed this? Have you done anything to treat it? With my luck, I will be in the woods one day, umpteen miles from the truck, and hear "BBBRRRAAAAAAAAAP!" when I hit the throttle.

I have often wondered the same thing. The stuff that I own with an engine are1) Z-71 (2) Edger (3) atv (4) 2 lawnmowers. All excecpt the truck stay in a garage.None have a rust issue except on the pipe w/in a foot of the exaust manifold.Maybe heat breaks down the metal.I thought that it might be cooked on mud,but why would thw edger have it to. Mystery.....................
