Default carb adjustment

Has anyone adjusted their idle mixture screws on a 03 650? Where are they at on the carbs and what is the best way to get to them? And how many turns out should they be? Also what is a good price for a kawasaki service manual?

Adjusting the idle screws helps with intake backfire and helps it start a little eaiser. They are located on the right side, one on each carb. Just use a small flat screwdriver. 3 turns out usually does the trick.

Turn them in untill lightly seated, and then 3 turns out.

Ironhead

Try this for setting your carbs.

Turn in the screw untill the motor runs rough take note at position of turns out from bottom eg. 2 1/4 turns. Next turn out the mixture screw untill the motor wants to run fast almost takes off, take note at number of turns out from bottom eg 3 1/2 turns out. Next turn in the screw to half way between the two and you should be okay eg. almost 3 turns or 2 7/8 turns out. Repeat this for both cylinders. From this setting you can vary it by 1/8 of a turn untill you are totally satisfied although I have found it doesn't vary much only say 3/4 of a turn at most either way
