Default 650 knocking

I've got an 02 650 with about 250 miles. I noticed today a knock at idle, off idle it goes away. Oil pressure light is not on. I can feel the knock in the floor boards and at the trans. cover and esp. at the engine brake control. Any ideas? I'm going to pull the trans cover and see what gives. Thanks

Wear shoes in drive pully of CVT are getting worn out. Very cheap to fix, 3bux a piece x8, or simply ignore the noise as it will not harm anything for a long long time.

bodyman, these 650's all make a little drive pulley shoe knock with the amount of miles you have (or probably most). A tighter belt will quiet it down. They aren't worn out yet, just drive it.

Mine did that but the sound just about went away with a tight belt.

Mine did the same thing as yours. I adjusted the belt defledtion and it went away. The noise was caused buy belt slop. You might want to try that. It may help.

Bodyman, does it do it all the time, or only when it's cold? My CVT knocks when it's cold, but as soon as I drive it for about 5 minutes, it goes away. I asked my dealer about this and he said it is normal (wear shoes).

Pulled the Pri. clutch this morning(just to satisfy my mind) looked it over and reinstalled. Now no noise!! Belt deflection is already at its min. (no shim). Thanks for all the advice.
