BONEshock, the threads are left handed. Turn the bolt clockwise for loosening. You also have a direction arrow on the drive pulley cover to remind you. 69ft-lbs of torque is the spec for the bolt.
I used a wooden dowel rod inserted through the outer pulley beside the spring and down into the floorboard to hold the pulley while I tightend the bolt with a torque wrench.

Can you also loosen the nut using the wooden dowl? I don't have an impact wrench and I've been trying to get it off and I'm up to 100 ft. lbs. and it's not budging. Is there a chance of damaging something? Didn't have this much of a problem when I put in the black spring. Thanks for the info Kiss of Death, Boneshock is my son.

Hi Spanker650. I always used an impact but I guess you could use the wooden dowl for removal too. The proper way to remove and install that bolt is to hold the hold the recoil stater pulley with a hook wrench on the opposite side of the engine. That is more work but would insure you wouldnt damage anything. We have a hook wrench that comes with our P650 in the tool pack but Im not sure if it would fit.
How are you holding the drive pulley now?
