Default P650 or 600SP

Hi I need your advise p650 or 600sp. I know the p650 is faster but speed is not at the top of my proirity list. Durability and comfort is. They are the same price at my local dealer $6600. Give me your take. Thanks.

i like the 650 cuz of its straight axel read end. the IRS is nice but tippy (dont even start in rincon). If you need ground clearence and a plush ride go with the polaris, but i will warn you that every polaris I have owned I have torn apart. It all depends on what you like, ride both then make a decision.

I bought my quad a month ago, and was going thru the same choice. Basically if you want to putt around in comfort like a grandpa, go with the polaris. If you want to have a little fun with it and rip around, get the kaw. I'm sure they're both reliable, but if I had to choose one or the other as far as reliability factor, I'd go with the prairie.

Do you ride off road at all? Because the Polaris not only has outstanding off road tires, it also has great ground clearance.
Just the two cents worth from a grandpa sitting atop his cushy putt around machine.

Thanks guys still undecided although I am leaning toward the 600sp. Just bcause of the suspension, Tires, racks, and it handles better with wieght on front and back. Keep the info coming! Chaff

I dont think you'll find any situation that the polaris handles better in , aside from rough riding when the IRS soaks up bumps better. The 650 is still like riding a couch around, totally comfortable. The 600sp looks stupid as hell, IMO, but thats a side note... Also there are more belt issues with the polaris transmission. I"m not giving you this opinion as a KAW guy, I'm more adult than some on this forum, who simply have blind brand loyalty. I priced and looked at both quads and am so happy I went with the prairie. Look at the resounding testimonials for how awesome it is. They were 100% right. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and test ride(i know it takes a little time out of your schedule) each one before you buy. I can almost guarantee you'll get off the 650 going 'whoa' I want that one.

The price really isn't the same, because the Sportsman comes ready to ride, and the Prairie requires the additional expense of BUYING REAL TIRES! I don't know what belt problems lightman is referring to. I've had 4 Polarises and never had a bit of trouble with the belts. Oh wait, I did replace the belt on my 98 Scram 500, but it was five years old and beat pretty hard. Cost me $35 and 30 minutes to change.
There is no substitute for tires and ground clearance.

...aside from when your jacked up quad rolls down the off-camber slope because of it's high ground clearance...lol..........both are great machines. You'll read in the polaris forums the troubles ppl have with their belts, or the importance of always being in low at lower speeds.....just seems their belts are a bit more finicky as the miles rack up. Also northstar your price vs tires comparison really doesn't hold water.....because of how much would it cost to get your sportsman as quick as a prairie...as much or more than tires. Who cares about the price difference, get the machine you want. Don't tell me you can afford a 6000 dollar toy and are going to base your choice on a few hundred in difference....thats lame.
