Default New 650 questions

I have my new 650 and now have a few questions (oh for everyone that asked price, I bought my 02 in Red at Bright Kaw. in Southgate MI for $6057.00 out the door. - I didn't think that was bad) Anyway I want to order a skid plate and I was looking at a plastic one (Armodillo out of Canada). I owned one on a Honda Rancher and it worked great. My question is if anyone has one, can I still change the oil filter with a plate on the machine or will that be an issue? DO you have any other suggestions? I was thinking plastic because of the light weight, quiet and my last one really did do a great job of protecting the machine. What are your thoughts?
Also does anyone have a good source for buying a factory Service manual?
Thanks and happy riding!!

I've heard of a few people using those plastic ones and they seem to like them. I don't have one personally, so I can't tell you if you'll be able to change the filter without removing the skidplate.

As for the source on getting a factory service manual, get the part from the Kawasaki website under " parts diagram " and then visit Ron Ayers, they have it for $37.46

Code 54,

I have the Armadillo thermoplastic skidplate and I have had no trouble with it. You can change the oil and filter without touching the skidplate.

I had one on a Prairie 400 - it was cut out for the oil drain. The Armordillo requires you to retain the factory skids, you put the plastic on over them; the plastic isn't sturdy enough to support itself. The plastic doesn't function any good as a bash plate, either. If you need a stronger than stock bash plate, you'll have to make one and then put the Armordillo over the top. What the Armordillo does well is slides over rocks, stumps, snow, mud like you wouldn't believe!
