Hey I have a 1992 Bayou 220 and I was just wondering if any of you have had any kind of problems with them.

I have a 1992 Bayou 220 and I have had no problems with it what so ever. The only semi-problem that I have with it is a knocking/ticking sound in the top of the engine. And it's been making that sound since I got it. The Bayou is a tough little machine. Periodically I tow over 2,000 pounds with it when it's only rated for around 600, but it pulls fine when I do pull it so I don't worry about it.

Well I can now say that I've had a slight problem. Remember in my other post above^ about towing all that weight well my clutch finally slipped making an awefull screaming sound. But it still pulled the weight but it jerked so tonight I am off to re-adjust my clutch!!!(and clean my spark arrester, and grease the stearing joints)

Well I just got back in from adjusting my clutch. an amazing thing happened now that it's adjusted it's never shifted like it ever has before. It shifts real easy so easy that the weight of your foot can shift it. and the shifts feel precise and crisp. Before the thing was harder than you know what to shift. Is it normal for it to be this easy to shift??I hope so because I like the way that it feels when it shifts like that.

if you adjusted the clutch the way that the manual said then it is probally right. i have had the clutch slip on mine before and it made a big noise also. the only other problem that i had was i put bigger back tires on it which i think caused it to wear out the hub splines. it is a good machine and i have had no major problems with mine and i really ride it hard(it is kind of a beater)

I own a '97 that has never failed me, save only once when I drowned it in 4 feet of water carrying a 100+ pound wild pig on the front racks. Took it home, dried it out and haven't had it miss a lick since.

As for the knocking sound, I have heard that Kawasaki's are known to develop a harmless knock within the clutch baskets once they get a lot of hours on them. If mine is doing it then someone will have to tell me since I can't notice it.

Since I already have this discussion open does anyone know what the horsepower is for a 1992 Bayou 220? I've looked every where and I can't find it anywhere. Your help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Yea I"m looking for a new front fender assembally and a new front rack for mine too. The guy that owned it before me hit it into a tree in third gear and destroyed the front rack and cracked some of the front plastic fender on the right side. Does anyone know the horsepower of a 1992 Bayou 220??

check dennis kirk for the racks. they have a website i don`t know what it is though . maier would probally be the cheapest place to get the plastic. they would be able to get you any color you wanted. dennis kirk would probally sell that too but it would cost more but they ship for free so it would probally cost the same
