Two Questions
#1
First:
What is it the lever assembly actually does (engine breaking?)...reason i asked as when we installed the spring and inspected it the contact surfaces seemed to be getting alot of wear. Is this a bad thing, when should they be typcially replaced?
Second
Re-jetted my 650 with 42f and 45r...still looking into the washers for the needles. My pilot screw is still at 2 1/4 turns. It says in the service manual that i need a pilot screw adjuster to turn the pilot screw. Is this true or is it another attempt by kawi to sell us a typically cheap part (kawi jets $8 and Keihen $2.50) for exaggerated prices. Is the tool special and keeps you from stripping it or can another item be used. Thought i would ask before i risked possibly damaging the thing by using the wrong tool. Any insight would be appreciated...thanks

The KEBC lever pushes on the clutch to engage the belt and prevent freewheeling while slowing down. The KEBC only affects engine braking at very slow speeds. The helix in the driven pulley is responsible for most of the engine braking that occurs. So if you didn't have the KEBC for one reason or another, you would still have engine braking except at the crawling slow speeds.
A screwdriver works fine on the pilot screws.
