Well...I did it! Today I bought a new 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650. I'll pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I think the Grizzly is probably a fine machine, but the Prairie is the right 4X4 quad for me. Thanks for all the constructive input guys! You provided some valuable information.

Last year there was a guy with a Grizz 660 that was riding with us..... let him try it out and he got on the throttle like he would with the Grizz and he stood the Praire right up in the air!!!!!! Needless to say, he was quite suprised at the power of the 4x4 that nobody really talks about!

Great choice Sorb. You'll want to check out Nyroc's website. It has everything you wanted to know about the p650 and then some. I dont have the link but it should be easy enough to find on previous posts. Very helpful and informative. Enjoy your new ride.

Sorb; I am sure you will be pleased with your New Prairie 650.
Through my experince, I don't feel as though the '03 650 was quicker than my '02 650 but it does seem to rev out better but again, no two of the same 4wheeler will run the same. I noticed this right off, long before I upgraded to the DG Snorkle/Twin-Air Filter.
Sorb;
Since you are used to more of a sporty ride then you might want to check into the Progressive Front Springs w/adjusting pre-load, available thru ebay, check out www.ebay.com in the motor section, enter Kawasaki Prairie 650, hit search. There is always (most of the time) a pair of Progressive Springs up for bid almost every week & you should be able to save some $$ by bidding. These springs list for $170, I won my bid at $132 w/shipping, others have paid even less. These Progressive Springs will make your P650 handle even better.

my best friend has a new grizz he bought it 2 weeks after the i bought my 03 camo prairie.there is a big difference in speed, low end power,the grizz vibrates similar to an older harley.(its terrible).The odd thing is we both agree that the prairie rides smoother than the grizz.when i ride behind him(voluntarily of course) the irs doesnt even move pretty much making it a solid axle anyway.its pretty stiff.the only time i noticed any flex or articulation was at a hard take off and it just sqauted a little.

Camosaki, are you sure your buddy has his suspension tuned in properly? When I rode my buddy's Grizz, I was in love with how smooth it rode. Way better than my 650. The only thing I don't like about the Grizz is the vibration. His wife likes it though!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She doesn't ride it though. She just sits in the garage, revving it up!!!! I wonder what she's up to??????

his suspension is just how it came from the dealer and hes a big guy probably about 260 lbs.you can lift up one side of the of the grizzlys rear end and the tires doesnt drop or even move.even the sportsman didnt impress me with there susp. over my solid axle enough to make me want anything other than the prairie. also if my prairie wasnt camo i would like the way his looks better but thats just because his is about 2-3inche taller than mine.and we both have 27 inch tires.i do like the grizz but i love the prairie.hes a better rider than me and i can hang if not beat him at almost everything.one more thing im far from being biast to one manufacture but you cant deny kawasaki being the king of the big bores.

I took my first real ride yesterday on the new Prairie 650. It's everything I hoped it would be and more! The power is unbelievable. It runs super smoothly. It climbs anything without hesitation, even in 2WD mode. It tackles deep water like a champ. And it handles more like a sport quad than a 600-pound 4X4. I genuinely love this machine! There's no buyers remorse here!!! Thanks again for all your help, guys!
