Default Are all keihin jets the same?

I just put a dial-a-jet in my bike with the 132 and 136 main jets (keihin). I think it's running lean. It was too rich with the 138 and 142 so I dropped way down. I went to my mechanic and bought (he actually gave them to me) the 132 and 136 and he put them in, now I see that Kawi doesn't even list a 136 for the prairie. Are all the keihins the same? I think he used keihin from a motorcycle, I don't think they'd be different but who knows?? I think I need to jet up but not all the way to the 138, 142. I was thinking of a 136 and a 140 but neither of these are listed on buykawi.com. Can I just go and buy a 136 and 140 from any moto shop and assume that these are the jets I need? Also, I also swithched back from the DJ jets and needles to stock, now I'm running the stock needles and I hear lots of talk about shimming the needles. What benefit does this give and where do you buy the washers?

From what I've been told, the main jetting should be a little lean; the Dial-a-Jet will richen it back up. What elevation are you at? The mains in my 650 are the Keihin "large round" type.
