ATTN: new 650 owners get the black spring now!!
#1
I just got my priaire on monday the 17. I got the black spring put on today, I also put a 145 jet in it.
All I can say is HOLY SH*# ! This mod rocks. I have 25" bear claws and I can't get it to hold traction in 2 wheel drive, punch it and it just fishtails back and forth on take off for like 10 or 15 feet. Like I am driving a muscle car or something. I just tore my gravel driveway all to hell. I think I just left a big skidmark on the wet asphault in front of my house I almost went into the ditch. I feel like I am in High School again......lol!
If you don't have the black spring and wanna get an idea of what its like put in in low and punch it. Now imagine that tight belt and immediate response feel in high, except its even tighter than and get's a lot more power to the ground. I only have 25 inch tires so I was a little skeptical of this mod being benefical. Its the best $50 you can spend on the bike. ($25 for the spring, plus I got the shop to put mine in) It might be the best $50 mod in ATVing period.
I know the subject has been beat to death but I had to put my 2 cents in. I know a lot of people on here like me have got their bike in the last couple of weeks and I wanted to share my experience.

The Black spring can be had at www. Erlandsonperformance.com its $25.00 plus shipping.
I jetted my bike to 142f 145r because after I drilled a large hole in the top of my airbox my bike would sputter and to backfire a little, when cold, until it warmed up. Do a forum search on Jetting or jets. To get more info on this. I have a K+N filter which came on the bike.
Most people on this sight at 0 - 3000 altitude are running this same jet combo. You only have to buy one jet and move the other jet from the back to the front carb. This jet only cost $5.00. A great cheap mod.
If your a good mechanic, you can look at NYROC's web sight for instructions on the spring. He's a forum member here, look for one of his post, he's an expert on hoping up the 650. If you just recently got a 650 like I did his web sight is a must read.

The results of the EPI Black are even more pronounced when you have stock-sized tires on your quad. I have 27" 589's, and it drives like a new machine.
You're right - it's the best $50 you can spend on your 650, IMO.

Capt Gene, their phone # is 218-829-6036 part # KSS3. I don't know how to link to a web sight, the web address I gave you is correct. You might do a forum search on here for black spring. I think I saw a web link in a previous post.
