Default 03 CDI ???

Read in a post here that the 03 CDI
wiring harness is different and maybe
the CDI itself. Does anyone have any info
on this???? Is the part # different?

What is this going to do to everyone who is waiting for the new CDI? Testing was done on an 02, so I didn't think anything about it. But if they don't interchange, will half of us be left out?

Yeah, That's what I was wondering, sure like to know
what Kawasaki changed besides the wiring. Maybe the aftermarket
CDI guy can tell us. Got to order a snorkle anyway, I will ask him then.

Default 03 CDI ???

it was known early that Kawasaki did the timing thing so if someone came out with a faster quad, all they had to do is change the CDI box to get more speed. Maybe the 03 is faster than the 02 and that why the CDI is different.

Does anyone have an 03 manual, if so see what it says on page 1-6 general information, under ignition timing. the 02 says (from 5 BTDC @ 1100 RPM to 28 BTDC @ 5000 RPM), is the 03 different?

probably if you looked at both they would have the same wires, just more or less connections.

Shotgun
I just checked my owner's manual, the timing numbers are the same.
But nowhere does it say that it is an 03 manual. Makes me wonder.
If the Stock CDI carries 28 degrees advance thru 6500 rpm,
that's not all that bad, but they probably cut it back above 5000
to hold the top speed down.
I smell lawyers in this.

Nope, number of wires is not the same.
A1/B1 12 wires/2 plugs
A2/B2 15 wires/3 plugs
