Man, Glad to see another KVF400 guy here. Never heard of cracking engines around the motor mounts, Theese bikes have been around a while too. What do you use yours for? Mine is just over a year old and has 450 miles on it.
I think if your block is cracked, the only real fix is to get a new engine. Sealants wont last long with any kind of heat. Hope you get it sorted out.

Are you sure its your motor mounts. They have had leeks other places but never seen that one. We've had 400s with ofer 20000 km on them and they still work fine. If it is your engine mounts you have to be able to get warranty on that. Where is the oil leeking from, front or back of the engine??

Try to find out who the factory rep is. Be real nice but, be persistant. Something like this should be covered as it is a manufacturing defect. As long as you don't make anyone mad and continue to work through your dealer you should be able to recover at leats the parts cost from Kawa./ Suz.

Good luck.

At least they are forking up for the parts. What parts exactly are they forking over for?

Also, what year is your 400?

2001 bought in dec 23,2001 the parts are crank case and all gasket to take engine down and repair it but the labour is still going to be 400$ the dealer want to try a aluimion ptch to see if it will work and if not go with the parts the engine has to be total rebuilded.

That sucks. For 400 bucks, I would take the parts, buy a manual, and learn how to rebuild 400's. I wouldnt let them try to fix a cracked block, might do more damage to some parts you will need to put in your new block. That and I would never be able to trust it on the trail. But thats just me. You could also do some comparison labor shopping. Hope you get it fixed.
