Dropped a screw during rejet $*@%#$!!
#1
Damn the luck!. While removing the airbox for rejetting my carb, one the screws that mounts the airbox to the top of the carbs fell down a hole and thru a hose. I don't have a service manual yet, but I believe the hose may be the crankcase vent. Yes, it did go all the way down the hose. What the heck do I do now? I don't know how in the world to get it out. What do you think it takes to retreive it? If I leave it, am I asking for a ruined engine later?
Help me out here guys!

I agree with mastrblastr's method, but if you pulled the hose off the case first wouldn't it be a shorter distance to fish it out? Also, if you could find a buddy with a small mechanic's magnet you wouldn't run the risk of losing the magnet in the case too. Either way, I wouldn't run the bike with the screw in it unless you want some serious engine problems.

Ah!!! The V-twin gods must have took pity on me 'cause I got that stinking screw out! I pulled the hose off and looked down the hole and there the screw was. It was turned with the head facing up and was caught. It never actually made it to the sump. It looks like the opening into the motor case necks down to a size smaller than the hose diameter. Much relief!!! Now I can concentrate on finishing the rejet.
Did get my muffler removed, cut the end cap off and drilled six 3/8" holes. The cap has been welded back, the muffler repainted and reinstalled. Only got to run it the shop, but it sounds sounds sweet. Much lower tone and a little louder. Almost reminds me of the V-twin on my Harley.
Thanks for the suggestions and help!
