Well, I tried my new 700 out against my Raptor over the weekend. The Raptor smoked it in a drag race. However, the 700 is an absolute blast to ride. I like the auto on the 700, it just makes it do every thing without much effort.

Then something happened...............

Last night my friend wrecked the 700. All the plastic has to be replaced along with the steering shaft, brake light, and rear grab bar. From seeing the other post, I am not the only one who got the 700 damaged opn the first weekend.

For those who are wondering about top speed, here are some GPS numbers. By the way I am 6'4" and about 270, if the numbers seem low.

Raptor.........69.8 mph
VForce.........66.9 mph

Is your Raptor modded at all? Still respectable numbers for a stock machine a few modds and they should be comparable.

From what I've heard and seen, with the lightness of the front end, and what i posted on other topics, this does not suprise me. Was the guy who wrecked it a beginner, or did someone hit him?

your rapptor has to be modded if it were to ''SMOKE A 700''. I dont think a stock raptor would beat a 700 v twin.

Howdy,
I was with Crunchman this week end. I rode his Raptor in the drags. The Raptor has an Alien pipe & is jetted. To be fair the 700 was not broken in and was stock. I think that with a break in period, the 700 will get the Raptor. The guy who was riding the 700 when it wrecked was reaching down to pick up a had that had blown off another rider. We think that he gave it the gas and was thrown off and the 700 endoed. My modded 650 didnt have a chance against either of them. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way will anything pull a holeshot on the 700's when the parts are out to clutch them correctly. I have a 400 Scrambler also and it lauches like its been shot out of a slingshot. The front end comes up so easily on the 700 that a good holeshot cannot be accomplished at this time. When a good set of pipes come out that transfers some of the low-end to the mid-range and its clutched correctly its going to make a huge difference.

Low engagement is good.
Instant engagement is not.

Please clarify for us "The Raptor smoked it in a drag race". Was this a top speed drag race or did you guys stop at say 60 mph? To me if something has a higher top speed it doesn't mean it wins a drag race. I would think the raptor has a higher top speed because of the gearing. So what does "smoked" mean?

Also, to 60 mph how close was the prairie 650 behind you guys? I'm curious.

Thanks in advance for the clarification and additional details.

Howdy,
my 650 was run twice against the 700 and it was so bad that I shut down around 40 mph. That 700 is a hole shot machine. At the time of the drags we didnt have the gps with us. I would guesstimate that the Raptor was around 4 or 5 lengths ahead. We probably got up to around 50 mph. Remember, the 700 is still not broken in and will get faster. We will run them again when it gets out of the shop. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!

That is my point, I don't want to here about a piped and jetted Rap and a stock 700, The Rap should win with a pipe and jet job, I want to here about a bone stock Rap and a bone stock 700, I have rode both stock and alot of Rap's with pipes and it makes a huge diifference the way the Rap run's, but both stock, I think the 700 will pull the Rap out of the hole and never look back, I want here about a fair race and then a thumb's up to the winner, It was interesting to hear the results though, If a Raptor with an Alian pipe and jet job can't beat a stock 700 there is something bad wrong, let's here from someone that has done a stock vs. stock race.......
