pilot screws
#11
Another tip I found out while jetting my 650 is, that since no one bike is totally alike and we all live at different elevation, temp, etc. when you adjust your pilot screw's don't even bother to count the turn's...WHAT!.... let the quad warm up until the fan kicks on at least once, let it idle in neutral, then start with one of the carb's, turn it out (counterclockwise) until it load's up,or idle's rough like nyroc said, stop and turn the other way (clockwise) until it just smooths back out,and idle's back up,stop then and simply turn (clockwise) 1/4-1/2 more turn and your done, do the other carb the same way....This way you know your mixture is rich enough for your bike and where you live to keep it from popping or coughing too much but not too rich also, I have done this to mine and it will now start and idle without the choke, form about 70 dgree's F or higher, before I always had to use the choke no matter how warm it was, and had to fool with the choke on and off for a few minute's before it would idle, now it is fine.........

I just turned them out 3 1/2 on my bike and did nyrocs exhaust mod, still get some popping and stuff when its cold and a little when its warm of coarse its only 20 degrees outside. the other question I can get only 52-55 mph out of my bike on the sp[eedo now before I could get at least 62-63 any help would be great. Don't know if this is the 26 inch tires or what

Go up one size main jet (kehin jets). try that.
Also, you may want to put a .040 thick washer under each needle (in the needle holder, to space the needle out from the bore).
When you take the needle out, go to radio shack and look for a small washer to do the trick. Or, get the washers from dynojet, or get them from a dealer that has them (the dealer would be one that does mods, races etc).

Vt, yes on the main's as nyroc said, take the 142 main from the rear carb and put it in the front one, then get a 145 from the dealer and put it in the rear carb.... part number is 92063D 92063-1017.....have them double check the number but that should be it for the 145 jet cost about 7 dollar's, maybe cheaper ,depends on your dealer........

Bluerhino...try taking the mains out and blowing them out with compressed air. That same hesitation happened to me, I guess it was something in the mains, after I used the compressed air it was all set.
PS...I do almost all my riding in the Roxbury/Rangeley area and Livermore? Ever get over that way?
