Default Updated 650 clutches and V-force high perf belt

I was browsing through the microfiche for the 2003 Prairie 650's and noticed that there are two different driven clutches. Apparently, Kawasaki changed/updated the driven clutches, as the part numbers are different. Go look at the updated 2003 Prairie 650 microfiche and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think the same is true for the primary clutch as well. Anyone have any info on this?

Also, on ATV television show last night, they mentioned the V-force has the same clutches as the Prairie 650 has. (probably different clutch weghts though). They mentioned the V-force has a new "high performane" belt. Wonder if this belt will fit the Prairie 650s?

Beats me.I ask my dealer about things like this and he looks at me like I have 2 heads. Its really annoying ,their a small dealer in a small town and can't be bothered to stay informed on their own products.Their excuse is the same for everything-"it must be the way you drive it"

My last check up cost me 300 bucks for a belt and 3 hrs for them to change it.He had the audacity to tell me he didn't charge me for the full time he spent on it , either!!!!

Hey kingmort,

Why do you drive all the way down here to New York to have your 650 worked on?

I had the same question as you guys. With some snooping around I found that the part # for the 03 p650 belt is the same as the 700s. I don't know if the drive clutch is the same but the driven should be the updated clutch with the cromed shaft and new style bushings, although the angles on the internal helix could varry from the 650 to the 700 . Don't know for sure, we havn't go ours yet. These updated clutches are excelent in my humble opinion, it shows how willing Kawi is to make things stronger and more user friendly.

With these updates, do you still need to do the Black Spring on the 2003?

Hey guys
Do the 02 belts and the 03 belts have different parts#?
I bought an extra belt when I got my 03 Prairie 6 weeks ago.
The part# on the extra belt is 59011-1080.
Do I have the right belt for my 03?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes the part #s are different for the belt. The # on the 03 I looked up was 59011 003 or something like that, the weihgts are not the same either the part # for the 650 is 39152 1081 and the # for the 700 is 39152 1088, don't if they are lighter or heaveir on the 700 I'll have to order some and find out for myself.
