Default nail in tire

when we were mounting hold downs on our trailer over the weekend i noticed that i picked up a nail so i took the tire off and had it patched at the local tire shop. any body had any experience with a patch in an atv tire, will it hold up? on a side note... when we put the tire on i busted another bolt off the hub. we tried to get the bolt out but no go. i am now paranoid of torque wrenches, anybody i see comeing near my 650 with one is gonna get a beat down! we took it into the dealer to have the bolt replaced and the belt tightened right away and while there at it im gonna see if they can get it running decently. i hope i can get it all set before spring break when i can finally get a chance to put it to the test at our hunting camp.

A patch will hold up just fine and you wont have to worry about it getting ripped out like with a plug.

Andy's right. Those patches are very reliable. I know someone that has been riding on one for over 9 months now.

I had plugs in my tires for three years with no problems. Never tried patches.

I thought plugs work better in ATV tires. From what I understood, the tires flex too much for a patch. I may have heard from someon that wasn't informed, but that's what I heard.

Well I had 3 or 4 patches and 1 plug in my old Polaris and none of them ever leaked.
I was just always afraid that I would be churning threw a mudhole and the plug would get ripped out.
I just feel safer with patches.
