Default Screw size for carbs?

Does anyone have the size for the screws that hold the "bowls" on? The kawi ones are so darn soft that it's an art to remove them without damage. I'd like to replace them with Hex cap screws but I don't know the dia and length.

I just went to 150R/148F jets based on a recommendation from Mike Penland. I'm going to DE the last weekend of the month where I have room to run to the top end, so we'll see how they work out. I also stepped down to one washer on the needles.

Peace,

Either 4x10 mm or 4x12 mm hex cap screws, I got mine from Lowes but any hardward store should have them. Get extras incase you drop one.

I changed mine out to allens head screws 4x12 or 4x10 as horseman said. One thing you may want to do which I did and it helped a lot...is go to your local hardware store and get a T handle allen head wrench. Its got a rubber grip on the top T part and the bottom stem of the T is about 8"-10" long, makes it real easy getting them on snug.

On the allen wrench a ball tip and t-handle as "Parker650" said is the way to go.

Hey guys just a heads up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STRIPED OUT MY CARB SCREW WITH ALLEN HEADS. You have to be real carful tighten them up cuz you can strip them out just like i did I did get some longer screws just in case and i currently have a longer allen head screw in the one i striped out... not leaking gas yet.... haven't rejeted again though either. Bottom line

BE CAREFULL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN THEM LIKE I DID.

But on a different note, it's much easier to rejet now that i have swithched screw types.

I think the problem is the 10mm is just too short and the 12mm is marginal. I bought some 4mm x 10mm and they barely catch the threads. I measured the stock screws and they are 14mm long. I ordered up some 4mm x 14mm today.

Peace,
