Default Best mods for Bayou 220?

I have a 1999 Bayou 220 that i am wanting to mod. What would be the best mods for this quad (besides buyin a dif quad)? I am wanting to put a cobra quiet series pipe, k&n filter, outerwear prefilter, and dynojet jet kit. What else would be good for this bike? Engine or chassis? thanks

I'm finding that not too many people mod the Bayous. About all you're going to find it what you listed; exhaust, jet kit, air filter... Everyone seems to say the Cobra exhaust is loud and to go with the Supertrapp... Just what I've heard though. Later this summer I'll be looking at doing something with my Bayou...maybe bump up to 235ccs. Haven't had it apart to see what is possible.

Default Best mods for Bayou 220?

Just finished modding my cousins Bayou 220 for him. This thing is so awsome that I decided to find a 220 and do all of the same mods to mine. People can say what they want to about only having 220cc but these little guys are bullet proof, tuff little bikes! Another great thing about them is thier inexpensive and with the right mods this thing is fast in the woods. Fast enough to keep up with my slightly modded 400ex and my highly, highly modded Lakota. Heres what I did to modify The little green machine.

ITP Mud Lites on back
Maxxis Front Pro's on front
Douglas Rims
Moose ATV Wheel Spacers on front and back
Supertrap IDS2 Exaust
K&N filter
K&N Jet kit
Vesrah Cluch Discs and heavy duty springs
Custom snorkle/ ram air
Works Shocks A-T Steeler Front Shocks with Dual rate springs
Progressive Suspension 13 series Freon Cell shocks on back
Moose floor boards
Renthal Bars and Grips
Stearing dampiner
Moose Folding Shift lever
Removed front and back racks
Custom DG front bumper
Custom Kawasaki Bayou 220 "Little Green Machine" graphics
Custom Lights

Any pics? Interested in what you did for the custom snorkle/ram air. How are the suspension upgrades working? Mine bottoms while trying to soak up large obstacles and any time it leaves the ground.

Default Best mods for Bayou 220?

Im going trail riding this weekend I planed on getting pics of it in action that I will post. The snorkle was easy to do. Its made out of pvc pipe and paint. It looks like something that was done in the factory. The K&N filter helped allot but the air flow still seemed restricted, so after I installed the snorkle and changed the jetting agian, it made it allot more responsive and faster. The pipe, the filter, and the jeting were huge power gains, but the snorkle made it noticably more powerfull.
As for the suspension, this was the best mod I did. Befor, the front end wanted to push and didnt track well at all.
After making the front and back wider and making the suspension more responsive this thing digs in and turns hard like a sports machine. So far everyone is comparing it to riding a Blaster. My cousin and I were jumping it four feet +, off the ground and it landed soft and didnt bottom out. It feels like a sport machine.

Thanks, can't wait to see your pics. I really wouldn't mind being able to get the 'ol Bayou 4+ft off the ground Are those shocks application specific or are they just 'universal' ones that you picked up to fit? Also, what is you current jetting and altitude?

Make sure you get pics of the snorkle and the suspension in action!

Thanks again,

Andrew

Yes I was wondering the Jettin also. If it is possible, a template of the snorkle would be AWESOME. Is the cost of these mods worth it?

I can attest to how tough the 220 is! My daughters have one that was purchased used. The poor quad gets ragged out constantly but keeps on running! In fact with as much abuse as it has been put through I am amazed it runs at all, but it will fire up at the first stab of the started every time. In fact, I think it starts more easily than my Raptor or the 400EX which are newer. I know that's apples to oranges in comparison, but just my 2 cents.
Murphyslaw, that sounds like a nice Bayou you have built for yoour cuz, I would have never even considered doing such a thing to a utility quad like that, but his sounds nice!
