I am interested in buying a 650 prarie. I have only rode one in the parking lot of a dealership. I was wondering how they do in the woods, how fast are they on top. I do a lot of riding on private roads (hahaha) and i was wondering how they were just to get on the road and cruise. how do they handle with two people on them. And does the automatic slip in the water or while pulling heavy loads. I would appreciat any help you can offer me

Read all the past threads on this site and you will be able find all the answers to your questions from present owners and their experiences.

Short answer:
Buy it, you will be totally satisfield. I have owned a Yamaha, Honda, now a Kawa. If mine was stolen tomorrow, I would go right back and buy another P650.

They don't get water in the belt until it is deep, about rack height.
The top speed depends on your tires, and all the big bores are about the same.
The 650 is better for 2, since it is more stable.
The 650 is better to go fast down the road because the v-twin doesn't vibrate like a single or an inline 2 cyl does. Much smoother running engine. Less driver fatigue.

The belt doesn't slip unless it is not adjusted, and/or allowed to get glazed due to misadjustment.

If adjusted correctly, it will pull a full size truck (not suppsed to, but people do it).
