What tires for 650 praire? Advice needed
I have the same delema, I just got an 03 prairie and want to get the c-series rims(they look sweet on all the quads i have seen in here)but not sure weather to go with the 25" or 26". the 26" will be about 30 lbs more weight and i am not sure what the wider tires will do to the handling at speed.
I also am looking at the mudlites.
I ride fast trails and don't want to loose that fun factor. Any and all opinions welcome.
Also thanks to all for the advice on buying the kawi, i just love it!

May wish to consider a set of Mudbugs. I have aprox 1200 miles on mine, and they reflect "minor" wear. I ride a varity of trials and they seem to perform well in all areas. Aggressive enough for the mud, will crawl over logs in the wood trails and not to rough on the hard pack. And although they are a 27" mud tire they are extremely light, therefore power loss is an unnoticeable minimum.

I stopped at the local Yamaha/ Suzuki dealer today to pickup a set of Roko QuickStraps. While I was there, I got talking w/ the parts manager and mentioned that I had heard alot of good things about Mudlite tires. He had just got in 2 26x12x12 Mudlites today. I have got to tell you that they look AWESOME! They look better sitting in front of you, than any magazine or internet advertisement I have seen. Anyhow, the two tires he showed me are now mine and 2 26x10x12's are on order and due in by Tue. You know what, he matched internet prices and is mounting the tires on my stock rims for free! Just goes to show you that it is great to use the internet, but sometimes it is good to give the local guys your dollars. In the end, they are the ones who take care of you if you have a problem with your quad that you, and your friends, cannot handle yourselves. By the way.... I know it is a Yamaha dealer, but the local Kawasaki dealer insists on charging by the hour for mounting tires.. Even if you buy them from him.

Put my 27" MUDLITES on about 2 months ago, and let me tell you ...................in one word.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .........................INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
They rule the mud, and are extremely light for trail riding and just having fun (other than in mud of course). The 27" 's take away a little of the nimbleness as one would expect, but if I wanted a all out sportsquad I would have bought one. They are extemely light, and the 27x10x12 on front and 27x12x12 on rear fit on stock rims no problems.
Check this pics out for your self, and as Adirondack said , look at them in person and you'll be a proud owner yourself.

What tires for 650 praire? Advice needed
Mount,
I paid $70.00 ea. for the 26x12x12's, and $61.40 ea. for the 26x10x12's. I have to pay 7% sales tax here in NY, but that is no worse than paying shipping and handling. The best part is that they are mounting them for free. If they somehow damage my rims, they have to make it good. If there are headaches, or problems, getting them mounted.... the problems/ headaches are theirs. I went w/ the 26", exactly because of what Meangreen says about losing some nimbleness. I am hoping that the 26" will be a good compromise in that regard.

I just put 4 26x10x12 mudlite on my 03 650, only have 6 hours on it but rode thru a variety of trails and some good mudholes here in southern WV. I am very impressed. On asphalt, just after you start moving they have a little vibration, but at just past crawling speed it dissappears. My buddy has an 02 650 with 25 mudrunners which I rode and think they are a great tire too. But my 26's seemed to have just as much power, and we jumped some with them and the mudlites were definitely softer in landing. I dont know if going to a 12 wide rear would make any difference, but they handled very well at speed on the trail. I paid $280 installed at a local dealer. I wish I had some to try on my Raptor!
