P650 manufacturing problem or human error?

Guys, this has happened several times to me, but caused me to wreck only twice. The second time was today and luckily I came out with just a scratch and a knot, but the P650 was not so lucky.
If i grip the handlebar grips tightly to the inside and open the throttle, it becomes stuck under my index finger. My reaction time seems QUICK when in fear of danger, but it still takes a second or two to release my finger. This causes the throttle to remain wide open when sometimes it DEFINITELY does not need to be.
My first accident was on a slight incline and it only caused the rack to slam the ground while still WFO. I was scared it was coming over backwards, but the rack to a beating and prevented that from happening.
Today while climing a steep short incline, I stabbed the throttle early to make the hill with momentum instead of having to throttle up the seemingly vertical incline. Well, with my finger stuck between the handlebar and throttle holding it open (just exactly what did not need to happen at that time) the front end left the ground and seemed to climb undesirably higher and higher. FEAR set in rapidly and I tried to bail (delayed again by my stuck finger). All I could see was the quad coming backwards onto me. I was able to leave at the last second, jumping barely to the side. The quad had now totally left the ground since it topped the hill. I was still afraid it and I were both going back down the hill. Instead, it managed to land about 1 or 2 feet past the crest with me just to its side and behind it. It came down on the right rear corner. The rack and rear fender look horrible, but most everything else seems o.k. Shaken up, but not hurt....I am very thankful.
Anyway, has anyone had problems sticking the throttle because of the close clearance between the grip and the thumb lever, or did I just GOOF? Just curious.

dude, I don't know what your doing, but I changed the grips on mine. they weren't causing any problems like yours, but they changed the position of my hands and made it much more comfortable to ride. ps. I have size 12 moose gloves, and have no trouble with the trottle.

No my hands are not large, and typically I don't have a problem with the throttle catching. I guess sometimes I change my riding position to better suite what I am doing, and with a tight inside grip, my finger catches almost every time.
The quad has been rolled before, so I am wondering if something is bent slightly to cause this problem. I plan to look at a new P650 to see if there is something different. If so, I will get it fixed. If not, I may have to go with a twist throttle even though I do not think I will like it.

If you are using your thumb to activate the throttle then how is your finger getting in the way? The obvious solution is cut off the problem before it gets any worse LOL. You have the most unusual problem ever presented on this forum I am sure. I did a search on the forum and you take the cake my friend. If you come up with a remedy please let us know I would definately like to hear how you solve it apart from loosing a digit LOL.

I can't imagine how you are doing that. I keep my hands to the outside of the grip, but my hands are real big ( know what they say about guys with big hands???? Just kidding) I have to have my hands to the outside part of the grip so that my thumb can be on the throttle right.

Wow, I hope something on mine IS bent, or either I am being misunderstood. If not, I do feel like a real Goof!
Alltoys, yes I am using my thumb. With the throttle pressed wide open, there is only a small gap between the bottom of my hand grip and the top of the thumb lever. With my trigger finger wrapped around the grip, the tip of my finger is just the right size to fit the gap. Unfortulately, the throttle squeezes past my finger tip without me noticeing it until it's too late. When I release the throttle, the tip of my finger seems to be lodged between the grip and the throttle not allowing the throttle spring to return it to idle.
Does ANYONE understand?

Sounds like you may have something bent check it out but if not, here is a tip from my m/x days.......use your thumb on the throttle (Duh !) put your first and second fingers on the brake lever and use the last two to grip the the bars. Keeping two fingers on the brake lever gives you a faster reaction time when you need to brake and in your case keeps your fingers out of the way of the throttle.
