in wheelies, power, acceleration, handleing or anything at all? I bought mine used and it came with the winch. I was thinking of taking it off, but was wondering if it was worth the trouble.

It is handy to have on there, but I ride more on the sporty side than the utility side. Always looking for more speed and power.

Your Progressive springs help alot when it comes to carrying a winch. Also, that 15-20 lbs hanging on the front can really hold the front end down: great when you're hillclimbing, not so great if you're doing wheelies. When mine was stock it would wheelie in high range until you let off or went back over. After I put the winch on, it took deliberate body english to get the front end up in a good wheelie. (My mods have taken care of that little problem,LOL) I've got my winch power source hooked up with quick-connects; I remove the winch when taking part in high speed competitions that involve jumping. If you don't ride alone and don't put yourself in situations that call for winching, you might want to take it off.

Thanks Scott, that's about how mine is too. I can wheelie in high but it takes some body english, comes up real easy in 2wd low.

When I first got it the front end would dive so much under braking and coming down steep hills that it made me nervous, that's why I got the progressive springs.

I think the springs are great, the best mod I have done, at least till the CDI comes along.

Does the winch hold back that frequency generator, or is it still very easy to flip over.

With the generator running you don't even know the winch is there. You could strap a deer on the front rack and I think it would still wheelie! lol
