We reinstalled the rubber on ours. Lets water out if you get some in the snorkle but keeps water from running up through the drain.

 

Just a note... I just cut my stock snorkal in half and its working great--and I still have the water drain
Just make sure to push the rubber down around it.Didnt cost a thing-almost twice the intake area
