Keep the radiator spotless.
Wrap the head pipe for about 18" with heat wrap to reduce heat transfer to the radiator.
Use that coolant that Highlifter sells. Don't use 20w50 oil.
The fan won't run as much after you adjust the jettin properly from stock. Mine ran lean stock. Now that I rejetted the fan doesn't run as much.

I didn't run any test on this, but a few people told me their engines have run hotter with thicker oil in them (even synth). Some were people I know in person, and other I know from this forum. So, I tell people to use 10w40 synth unless their quad is air cooled.
Anyone is welcome to disagree.

I agree w/Nyroc (yeah I know, what a suck up). Unless you are sustaining extreme temps for long periods of time ie. desert racing, there is no need for 20w-50.
Along the same lines, I was thinking about buying that Scott oil filter. Does anyone have any thoughts on those? Kinda pricey, but will pay for itself in the long run, plus is supposed to filter better than paper filters.

You guys might be right, And I really dont like the startup noises of 20W-50. My quad runs pretty hot on all day trail rides here anyway, and I thought the thicker oil would help it. I will do some experimenting and see what does what, although ambient temp is a hard factor to control
