How do I keep my belt dry?
I know how to keep your belt dry.... don't go in the water!!!!!
I've ridden with every kind of 4x4 there is.... at one time or another.... I've seen every one get their belt wet, and either not be able to move, or just squeal for hours
if you're going to ride in a lot of water.... get something with GEARS!!!

All atv's are subject to water injestion, it doesn't matter if it's an auto or not. If your riding in water deep enough to suck it into the clutch intake then the carb air intake is in danger also. Water & oil don't mix and engine damage is more serious than a belt slipping. Guys who often run in deep water should snorkle both intakes to prevent this. These bikes will essentially run under water as long as the intakes are clear and the revs are keep up to prevent the machine from stalling due to the increased backpressure the water creates on the exhaust.

I do wonder a little about the belt issue. I will have to snorkle, as I
have to cross too much water with unknown depths. I carry a 10mm socket
with a 1/4" drive ratchet and something to dry out the primary. It's a
10-15 minute job. You just have to get out of the water, first. I need
to jump off the ATV quicker, as it will kind of float. I have to idle
it up before going into unknown depths. I try to go slow, but it will
die from not enough exhaust exiting. It's all fun. I had a blast this
past weekend.

I have a friend that I ride with that has a Prairie. He has it all snorkeled up because we do a ton of water riding. I could see about getting some pics for you if you are interested. It isn't the prettiest setup but it works. His screen name on here is yellow68601. We go through some pretty ugly stuff but it is a great time!

PCdoc,
Yes, some pictures might help me with some ideas. I can't see how it
will come out pretty, but I have too much fun in the unknown mud and
water. We ride sometimes until 4am, and you know you can't see what you
are getting into. Have to travel in groups, to save/push the week. We had
a 400 scrambler and a three wheeler. A good time by all. I have a place
to go to that is 5000 acres, 3000 which is wet, 2000 dry. Meet new
friends all the time.

Hey pcdoc or yellow68601 could you send me some pictures of the snorkel also, I've been wanting to do it for some time now but just haven't had the ride idea of doing it. Thanks, and with the pictures could you or him send some written info on how you did it (you know for the "non" mechanically inclined)
Thanks again, you can PM me or just post here and I'll get it
