A friend of mine bought a 01 mojave that was terrible to start, i've seen him kick it for over ten minutes before it started and that was the same weekend he bought it new. I rode it then and it had no more power than the old honda 185 big red, he got so tired of it after riding it six times that he sold it to me for $300. I am determined to find out why it starts and runs this way because there seems to be several that run this way on this board. So when you buy one just make sure it starts good and has good power and I think youll have great fun.
10 minutes, thats a long time! you should check the Spark Plug, it is usually small simple stuff like that, that can keep a quad from starting right. or it could be something with the Carburator. good-luck.

I have had 2 mojave's (87,02) and both only had minor problems that were easy fixers, they are great sport/trail riders

i have a 89 mojave it used to start hard, get rid of the air intake set up and put a k&n filter right off the carb! the stock set up leaks dirt in through the many different connections on that crazy set up and if you filter is oiled too much it starts very hard!

just my 2 cents worth

For all the guys posting above that have starting problems, poor drivability, etc., spend a few bucks and take the quad to a good mechanic. 95% of these problems are minor. Just because your buddies worked on it and didn't get it to work doesn't mean that no-one can.
