i have a 89 mojave it used to start hard, get rid of the air intake set up and put a k&n filter right off the carb! the stock set up leaks dirt in through the many different connections on that crazy set up and if you filter is oiled too much it starts very hard!

For all the guys posting above that have starting problems, poor drivability, etc., spend a few bucks and take the quad to a good mechanic. 95% of these problems are minor. Just because your buddies worked on it and didn't get it to work doesn't mean that no-one can.
