KFX 700 Gas Milage that bad?
#1
Hi folks, am interested in purchasing the 700, ( trading in the raptor) but people say it only gets 8-10 mpg. Is this true? I need to get at least 50-60 miles per tank full for trail riding. Whats been your milage?? Thanks and ride fast.

I am thinking my mileage is in the range of about 12 to 15 mpg.
The standard tank is 3.2 gals. ( I think...)
I hear that a larger tank will soon be available on the aftermarket that is 4.5 gal ???

My first tank, the light came on in about an hour! Scared the heck outta me, dang gas hog. Now with 35-40 hours, It has gotten alot better. On a 21 mile loop at hatfield mccoy I used 2.4 gallons trying to keep up with a cannondale. That machine used .9 gallons, so yea, the mileage stinks.

I too could use a bigger gas tank on my Prairie 650! Even at 4.5 gallons, my P650 will eat it up (that is, gas) but gee whiz, we all do have 2 cylinders, don't we?
My 1st P650 a '02 model low was 16mpg,high 18.5. My '03 is better with a high of 22mpg but I don't have your hot igniter box either, at least not yet, still waiting on the DG CDI unit. The P650's are putting out 31hp to the rear wheels & I think I saw a test somewhere that the VForce was putting out 40hp at the wheels, so that right there will use more fuel, as I can't see too many of you just poking along. Sounds like many of you need to bolt on a spare gas can, of course for us P650 owners that isn't a problem with racks, as I Always bring along my 3.25 gallon fuel pack.
I did see a article a ways back in one of the ATV magazines about a company that will make a larger gas tank for just about any atv, did any of you see this article?

The gas mileage isnt the best but i doesnt bother me that bad for the power it is well worth it.
However it wont hurt it to have a aftermarket gas tank. Ive had mine for over 2 weeks and i have had to fill it up 4 times already. Its not as good as my old warriors were but im ok with it.

I go through gas like crazy in mine. The first day I rode it I was getting an hour and forty minutes before the light came on. I can't really tell if it's getting better yet, Tuesday night I was out running logging roads with a couple of gravel pits mixed in, and the light came on after an hour on the second tank of the day.(5th tank since I've had it) Last night I was riding tight woods trails with a motocross track mixed in and I got an hour and 40 mins out of the first tank, and used about 1/2 of the second tank in 45 mins or so. Tonight I'm resting my screaming shoulders, that MX track(un-maintained, very rough) was killer on that big machine, although after a few laps, finding the lines, I was able to hammer down not bad, I might go play with my suspension after supper and see if I can get it to handle the moguls a bit better, although I like the way it feels on every other terrain.
