Hey guys, I have a buddy who just ordered a 500 sportsman H.O. and he seems to think that he would take me in a drag!!! I only have the break in period done on my '03 p650 and haven't really had a chance to see what it really can do when I open this thing up, but I owned a '02 vinson 500 and there is absolutely no comparison in power between the vinson and my prairie!! but my buddy is completely convinced that he'll take me with his sportsman!! is he on bad drugs or is there any truth to his madness????

 

I owned a 500HO before the P650. Even when my P650 was stock .... it will reach 40 mph and come to complete STOP in less distance than it took the 500HO ( with clutch kit and pipe ) to get to 40 mph.

 

there's nothing wrong with either power BUY AND DRIVE WHAT YOU WANT. Don't compare speed compare how you feel on the bike on a normal trail and then look at other variables like maintance etc... I personally pick the Kawi.

 

my question wasn't about how I feel on a normal trail or riding preference it was low end power between the two machines and my curiousity between the two.

 

The Vinson was faster than the 500HO!! The 650 will smoke it!!!

 

Sometimes I think Im one of the only people in the world that likes Polaris's but your 650 will smoke a 500 HO.

Well the 650 on the trail is the best in mine point of view, If you want something better try a hummer. Seriously the 650 is smooth has gobs of power to go through the roughest stuff, after a full day of bikeing the hardest part is shutting the thing off, it's fun and easy to drive and it runs good and it has all the features you could put in a atv. The center of gravety is good and the clearance is lower but you don't need to worry about that if you are aware of this. The steering smooth and the maintance on the 650 is less than most. I don't know of anyone that ever said to me after they drove my 650 that said man you can have this back... I have to go a take it back if that says something

HI GUY'S:
I have 2 friends with 500H.O's ( well one sold his ). I have rode both of them and I got to tell you that the low end punch and accelleration of the P650 COMPLETELY destroys that of the 500H.O. A drag race between the two is not even close. However , as we all know the P650 is VERY detuned at the top end and is limited to about 67mph. The 500 H.O. will keep up somewhat as it can get along at 60-62mph. When on a fireroad, if you give the 500 H.O a head start ( a good one) it will take a little room to real it in , as the Kawi's top end is no-where near what it will be, once the C.D.I. unlocks this. However...in terms of drag racing... A P650 WILL BLOW AWAY A 500 H.O. in a drag. I have blown away 3 of them VERY convincingly ( 2 of my friends bikes and another ). If I were you ,I would bet him something interesting , like a night with his wife, or maybe his pink slip or even his house! YOU WILL WIN! Have fun and let us know when you kick his A$$ !
