I've heard some negative feedback about the smoothness of the Predator transmission. Best bet would be take each one out for a rip if at all possible.....

 

you do not have to be an expert with a clutch I have drove the kfx and it is very easy, im sure the predator is the same.

 

lt250rider- Had 4 250-quad racers over the years and after getting the V-FORCE would never go back to one. Had good luck with them but all things considered theres no comparison

 

I realize you are capable of clutching but a few reviews I saw mentioned that the predator often missed shifts or never shifted at all. Perhaps their tolerences are quite as high.

 

Before you decide on either machine, I would suggest that you do your homework. If you look in the new "june" edition of Dirtwheels, you'll find that the kfx 400/ Suz 400z are already having problems with their frames cracking at the shock mounts. As far as the predator goes, i've never ridden one but I wouldn't buy a machine that did'nt have reverse. Hope this helps you.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I must say...I love the Predator....My good friend has one and he and I trade out quite a bit.

It's more difficult to ride wheelies...this thing wants to stay on the ground and just run!!!

He has had his since they came out and has had no troubles...and we tend to ride pretty hard on the trails / hills....Which is one big advantage....because the Predator is wide and low....it does really well going up steep inclines.

I had the opportunity to race it this weekend...I rode my friends Predator and beat a modified Rappy by half a bike length (twice)....the Rappy had pipes, and new cam. The Predator is mad fast and fun (except for the wheelie thing...maybe if I rode it longer I would have more luck with that)

Sorry to say it will outrun my KFX700 by about three bike lengths in 150 yrd run.

 

If I were in your shoes I'd try and wait just a bit longer. Yamaha should be out with a new quad in the 450 cc range soon. Honda, well who knows? The new Yamaha might be worth the wait. Why would they enter the market with something that would already be beaten by the suzuki 400 & clones. Never ridden a Predator, but have heard too many bad things about Polaris. Good luck however you choose.

thanx guys umm yeah the predator is fast , im getting close to picking the predator but the no reverse really throws me off, all the quads ive owned have had reverse so not having one might mess me up, for a couple hundred cheaper with reverese i might be gretting the kfx even though the power may not be as strong it still has a good power to it. i saw the june issue but havent read that yet. i read the z400 turn into a 440 and doing that to the kfx would help it beat the predator??

 

Get the KFX man you will not regret it...I talked to a guy at a MX track a couple of weeks ago who has a predator and after he saw my KFX 400 run he was wishing he had bought one of them! He said the Predator was too heavy????

 

yeah by the way how much does the predator way?? is it more than the raptor?? the kfx is 380 dry i think but im not sure
