It took me a few hours. I've only done it one since the 10 hr service and it wasn't all that difficult. The biggest PITA is taking all the stuff off to get to it. I removed the front and rear fenders and tank to do the job. The valve cover takes some finess to get off the top of the engine and work it out between the head and the frame. Just get a service manual and it will walk you right through the procedure.

Hey Rockrider,

Did your valves chatter more after that first adjutment than when you first got it? I have adjusted mine, and the chatter is more noticeable.

I had to adjust my valves alot with my old engine, not because of chatter, but because sometimnes they would like to just close and get all out of adjustment. Basically one night it would run but then over night somethng would happen and the intake valves would close up eveytime i had to adjust them. I tihnk after looking back its because i didnt break it in properly? oh well, old news
